Loathed and deified
Temptation untied
Who am I to defy what is lurking inside?

I swore revenge that wouldn’t be mild

Time and again I managed to tread
The path of the plain with kingly pride
My triumph!

I couldn’t see the dark fire
That was blazing inside

A made man I was growing
Into a twisted world within
And the power was showing
Bleeds you dry with a self-righteous grin

I finally came to a crossroad
When my one true love broke my heart

What fatally tore us apart

In a sea of their own rust

Twisting moral, moulding its justice

Part I: The Den

“Don’t you dare to seek within
For what you’ll be is what you’ve been”
All those who live beyond these words
Must live beyond these worlds
Without a soul to cling onto
I’m falling through

Thrown into a den of wolves

I walked their way
But I went astray
Poisoned my youth
With stranger truths
They’re failing
Is fate prevailing over me?

All the battles that I’ve lost
The isolation that it cost
Turned out they were not mine to fight
A shelter from the reign
When suddenly the missing key
Lay before me

Stepping out a den of fools

I saw the way
Never betray
Reclaim my youth
A singular truth
Is guiding
Like sirens calling for me

Part II: Quest for Hire

Relentless, the spark was ignited
The point of no return
Profanity to sacred wisdom
Few can discern

With strong belief
I started a quest unbeknownst to me
The hunting call
Was heard by those who could see the signs

Strangers I’ve known a lifetime
Gathered at my side
We grew to wear the burden of reject
As a badge of pride

Going for broke
Disciples sworn to the only cause
Claiming for none
Yet obtain abundance you’ll never know

Part III: Into the Tides

Knowledge
Craft
Drawn like a moth
To a flame
Once apprentice enthralled by our masters’ skill
Now dared to pass on teachings of our own

And our journey led us to foreign shores
We captured more than all of us could take
Freely strolling, still we remained on track
The summit always felt within our reach

But excitement gave way to rash desire
Each treasure cast a shadow on the last
Blurred and twisted, what we set out to find
As time began to take its fatal toll

Some went quietly
Absorbed by the waves of life
Others turned in disenchantment and fatigue
And the north star soon disappeared in dust
When faith is lost the dream remains pretence
All alone I faced what I had thought long lost:

The eclipse has begun
Still chased for the sun
To get struck by the light of the moon

All potions and spells
Have dried up the wells
Diseased, forgotten, marooned

The seasons have turned
All reasons been burned
The secret – a vanity fair?

A voice in the dark
A twist in my arc:
“Dare to find – and what you seek be laid bare”

Not too late, not too soon
Is there life on the moon?
Still LIFE on the moon.
